Hello,

We are currently using a database that I built that looks at system information to pull the current logged in user on a particular PC. I have built into my custom switchboard disabled buttons that are enabled based on the user logged in to the PC. On my switchboard, I have a textbox [txtUserName] and use a Default Value: =getuser() to populate it.

In order to maintain the users that are allowed access to the disabled buttons, I need to go into the VB code and modify the users. What I would like is to have, is the ability for other managers be able to do this simply by going into a form, and adding or removing a user. I was thinking a table that contained a list of users with the permissions to access the disable buttons, but I'm not quite sure how to go about it.

Could someone bestow some knowledge on how to go about this.

Also, I am concerned with the modules remaining functional with the newer operating systems, if you know of, and could provide me with an updated module, that would be fantastic.

It took me a little getting going, but I got it to work. This is great, thank you.

Another question, I use code to open my forms in data entry mode or to navigate through the records. This way I only need one form for both functions. Where can I insert this in the list box for MenuItems from the link you provided?

I am going to defer to Denis, who wrote the whole thing. I would prefer todo that rather mess up what is already working.

But I do have a suggestion. In the ****** event for the form, if the user has certain permissions that have been set, then you can have the form open with certain fields hidden or not enabled. You may also be able to open it on an uneditable basis. I hope this makes sense.

There's a couple of ways to do this. I generally put code like this into the Load event of each form:

How can I have the Navigation buttons show for Level 1 and Level 3 together.
I intend on using 3 Levels of security:
3 = Navigation and Editing
2 = Data entry with no navigation (New Record)
1 = Read Only with Navigation
