Wrong Dates

No matter which Date Format I use Excel returns the wrong date,it seems to convert my date into the number of days from a baseline
Somewhere there has to be a setting thats wrong but I cant find it.Does anyone have any suggestions?

Check to see if the 1904 date system is not
checked in your Tools/Options/Calculation
