What command do I need to use to insert the current date automatically in a cell? The date on which the spreadsheet was prepared should be retained, not updated whenever the file is opened.

Enter in the cell you want the date =Now()
copy this cell then click on >edit
click on pastespecial
select Value
Next format the cell to the date format
if it isn't the way you want the date to appear
then click on custom and play around with how you
want it to look.
