Grid lines on screen

The "default" light grey grid lines on my screen are bugging me. I wish to do some free-form stuff, like add a background and graphics to a sheet.
How do I suppress them? Easy enough when printing, but I'd like it to show up on the user's screen blank, then put in my own grid in certain areas.

GOTO Tools / Options Select View Tab and deselect the Gridlines option
