How to raise the number X to the power Y

Mr. Excel,
I need HEEEEELLLPPPPP! For my technology applications class I need to find out how to raise a number to an exponent or a power. Please help me out!

There are Power and Exp functions available within Excel- press the = button at the end of the formula bar and have a browse through.

Use the "^" as in: x^y [eom]
