Startup Problem

Posted by Buck on February 06, 2002 3:10 AM

I was working on a spreadsheet & my system locked up -
for what reason, I don't know. Now, whenever I start up
Excel, I get the following message:

File In Use

BdStart.xls is locked for editing

by 'Buck...'

Click 'Notify' to open a read-only copy of the
document and receive notification when the document
is no longer in use.

How do I "fix" this so Excel starts up normally again?
Thanks for any & all help.

Come out of excel, hold CTRL, ALT and press DEL.
In the task list, see if excel is running in the background, if it is shut it down. If not try rebooting. This may clear the error.

Thanks George! I don't know why I didn't try that.
It's usually the first thing I DO try! It worked.
Again, thanks & have a good one! Later.....
