aaahh!--speaking of links to other workbooks...

Hey all. I have a workbook with several links to other books that exist on someone's computer in a far away land from a far away time (I guess, anyway, as no one can send me the files). Anyway, the values that are linked are constants and even if they were variable, I couldn't get the updated values anyway. I would like to be able to erase the many links and leave the values, thereby eliminating that annoying propmt every time I open the book. Any suggestions on an efficient way to do that?

Thanks!

Past this link into your web browser and it should help. I'd recommend downloading the Delete Links Wizard at the bottom of the page.

Hope this helps!

Thinking about it could you not also just select all those linked cells, copy and paste special value to get rid the links and keep the values? That would work.

Thank you, Chris.

Thank you, Chris. I'll try the wizard first, as there are several hundred links in the book and I don't know if I have that patience to find and eliminate them all! ;-) It was built as a sort of conglomerate of five other books (Official Titles from one, Workload Factors from another, etc.) But, if the wizard doesn't work, I may just have to do a bit of copy-paste special-paste value, etc.

Have a great day! ;-) : Past this link into your web browser and it should help. If the Wizard doesn't do the job, a quick way...Re: Thank you, Chris.

Keith

A quick way to do what Chris suggests is to select whole of each sheet
(either click at the top left intersection of column and row headers or
simply hit Ctrl+A), then Copy and PasteSpecial/Values.

If there are any links left, look in Insert/Name/Define - some of the
name definitions may contain links.
