Have I been sleeping on data validation lists, or was always just ignorant.

I noticed today that I selected a column of 25 cells with only 3 unique names to use as a data validation list. when i clicked on the drop down the list was already filtered. Is this a fairly recent addition, or have I always misunderstood it? I have 365.

That's on my Windows version.

I can't find any mention of this change in the Insiders blog or the normal Excel blog. Which seems daft to me as this is a great feature!

Excel Facts

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN

I just figured out the place to find update dates. It looks like 2301 was in late January.

Okay, its been a minute since I posted this. Is anyone else now getting the automatically deduplicated data validation lists in Excel 365?

I thinks it's only available on the insiders channel. I'm on version 2302 on the monthly channel & don't have it.

Here is what I am still getting, and believe me. I am happy about it. I just don't know why Microsoft hasn't said much about it.

I guess. But, I did not think insiders got beta versions. And, I am not that special of a person, although I've had my 365 subscription for quite a while.

Actually, I am on office pc and updates are set to automatic so I don't do it manually.
Okay, but you can check your version on your excel "account" page:
(So, I now have 2303) (I wonder what 'current channel preview" means, though).
