Hello,

I've noticed two errors:

Introduction XXXV: the link for errata no longer works. It just links straight to a form to report, but does not list the errors.

not sure if this is actually one: chapter 1, page 9: Personal workbook is a .xlsb not .xlsm

Thanks
Chris

Who is Mr Spreadsheet?
Author John Walkenbach was Mr Spreadsheet until his retirement in June 2019.
Thanks for reporting this. The book lists this link: Microsoftpressstore.com/ExcelVBAMacros365/errata
When I enter that link, it redirects here: Microsoft Excel VBA and Macros (Office 2021 and Microsoft 365) | Microsoft Press Store

This book just started shipping a few months ago. It is possible that yours is the first being reported. Thanks for pointing this out.
Yes, apologies, it links straight to where you said.

Just wanted to say, I'm only at chapter 1 page 15 and I've already learned a number of tips and tricks which will make my day a great deal easier.

This is a good book, thanks!

Chapter 1: Page 16

A part of the downloaded companion content does not match the book.

The instructions on page 16 ask you to select invoice.txt but invoice1.txt is the file which matches the image in the book.

I got around this by swapping the names of invoice.txt and invoice1.txt.

Regards
Chris

Later instructions on page 20 ask you to rename invoice.txt to invoice1.txt and rename invoice2.txt to invoice.txt. However, there is already an invoice1.txt in the download meaning you would overwrite something you need.

The fix in the download on the Microsoft website would be:

1. Delete invoice.txt (this is the same as invoice2.txt)
2. Rename invoice1.txt to invoice.txt

This would mean that you could rename invoice.txt to invoice1.txt, per instructions on page 20 without overwriting anything.

I've done the above and the instructions in the book now match the download.

Regards
Chris

Chapter 1: page 23

Text refers you to check in cell E19 for a green warning triangle. This is actually in cell E23, F23 or G23.

The macro also totalled rows 14 to 22, not 10 to 18 as suggested in the book.

There is no need for a separate thread for each one so I have combined them. In fact, in the link that has already been provided above, there is link to where you can submit errata:
