date format

I would like to be able to enter a date into an excel cell as 020202 and have it format as 02/02/02.

I have the cell formatted to date and enter 020202 and it is formatted as 04/23/55

Can anyone tell me how to do this.

Since Excel doesn't recognize 000000 as a date
format you can't type a value like this and
expect it to be converted to a datevalue upon
entry.
